WHEN IT COMES TO DEFENDING AMERICA, I BELIEVE IN THE FOLLOWING CORE PRINCIPLES -

The federal government has no higher duty than to “provide for the common defense.”

We live in a very unpredictable and dangerous time. Radical Islamic terrorists are in every area of the globe, seeking to carry out attacks on the innocent and our people. Rogue nations like Iran and North Korea are threatening peace and stability in the world.

We must be ready to meet these challenges head on.

Our military is the most advanced and well trained that the world has ever seen, not just because of the latest in technology and weapons systems, but because of those courageous men and women who volunteer to stand in defense of our country.

I am proud and honored to represent thousands of servicemen and women in my district, and I will continue to ensure they have the tools and resources they need to defend our country, its people and its allies.

As a Member of Congress who voted against the Budget Control Act of 2011, which created the sequestration cuts, I have always said these cuts would represent an unacceptable threat to our national security and to the men and women whose mission is to help keep us safe. These cuts continue to harm our military and diminish our ability to defend our global interests. I look forward to working with my colleagues, and President Trump’s administration, to end these sequestration cuts for national defense.
