Washington, DC – Congressman Dennis A. Ross, Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on the Federal Workforce, Postal Service, and Labor Policy, today joined Oversight Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), as well as his committee colleagues in introducing District 12 to AmericanJobCreators.com.
During the run-up to Congressman Ross’ June 7th Job Fair in Bartow, this online effort solicits input from America’s job creators about regulations and government interference that is preventing putting Americans back on the job. The site leads by stating, “Americans have a right to an efficient, effective government that works for them. American job creators deserve the opportunity to succeed and grow here in the United States. It's our job to help taxpayers and entrepreneurs secure these rights. But to get our job right we need help from you, our country's proven job creation experts.”
Beyond accepting input, the committee will use the information in crafting legislation to eliminate, change, or improve regulations to put America back to work. The site makes that clear by ending with, “Would you be willing to tell us about your experience? Where does Washington help, and where does it hurt? We're listening.”
Congressman Ross, upon joining this effort, said, “It is not every day that government does the listening. But when it comes to creating American jobs, who knows better than the business owners, job creators, and entrepreneurs of District 12? The sad reality of Washington is that too many people who have never met a payroll or lived under Washington regulations - are writing them. Thousands upon thousands of pages of burdensome, outdated, or just plain unneeded regulations put a daily drag on our economy.”
In emphasizing how people in District 12 can help, Congressman Ross said, “That is why I want to hear from my constituents about government that is getting in their way. It is time for government to listen and, with the help of our job creators here at home, to act as well. I look forward to reading what the folks here at home have to say, and doing all I can do to help bring jobs back to Florida.”
Dennis Ross, son of Bill and Loyola Ross, was born in 1959 and raised in Lakeland, Florida. He graduated from Auburn University and the Cumberland School of Law at Sanford University. He has served as in-house counsel to the Walt Disney Company and as an associate of the law firm of Holland & Knight. In the 112th Congress, Dennis will serve on the Committee on Oversight & Government Reform (Chairman of the Federal Workforce, Postal Service & Labor Policy Subcommittee) as well as the Education & the Workforce and Judiciary Committees.
