Press Release: Dennis Ross Statement on Justice Department Suit Against AT&T/T-Mobile Merger
Washington, DC - U.S. Representative Dennis A. Ross (FL-12), a member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, today released the following statement in response to the Department of Justice's lawsuit to block a proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile.
“The Justice Department's decision and last week's bleak jobs report confirm what the American people already know. While this Administration believes itself to be smarter than the market, only through free enterprise will America get back to work.
Those of us who come from the private sector understand that making a market more competitive forces all players to elevate their service. Last week's report that zero new jobs were added in the month of August should be a clarion call to this Administration that their policies continue to stifle the free-enterprise system and our economy. While government should provide regulatory and tax certainty, Mr. President, the private sector creates jobs. It is high time we allow them to do it. This merger will bring much needed jobs back to the United States and will force all the players in a diverse and expanding market to elevate their game.”
