“We are deeply disappointed in the Department of Education’s decision to move forward with the gainful employment regulation. If the Department was truly concerned about consumer protection, a better alternative would be to arm consumers – students – with information, and let them make the best decision for their economic and family situation. The Department should be developing policies that increase student access to course offerings and degree granting programs, rather than attempting to pick higher education winners and losers. Unfortunately as a direct result of these misguided regulations, many worthy programs are expected to close, thousands of jobs will be lost, and the neediest students will lose access to the educational opportunities vital to their economic success.
