WASHINGTON, September 17, 2013 | comments
Today marks the 226th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States. On September 17, 1787, thirty-nine delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the four-page document that created our government. Each year on September 17th, Constitution Day is observed to commemorate the drafting of our Constitution. Recent legislation has renamed the day as Constitution and Citizenship Day to recognize all who, are born in the U.S.or by naturalization, have become citizens.

As we celebrate one of the world's longest-existing written agreements of government, let us remember our American values of freedom, liberty, equality and justice. The principles for which our Founding Fathers boldly took a stand have made a lasting impact on our lives, our country, and our world.
