Ross Votes to Pass Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 3, 2017 – U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which will generally prohibit the abortion of unborn children after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
“Today, I was proud to support legislation that will help protect the most vulnerable members of our society. As leaders we have a duty to fight for the lives and rights of all Americans, especially those who are unable to defend and speak for themselves. We now know that at 20 weeks babies are capable of feeling pain in the womb, and we have an obligation to protect these helpless lives. Abortions claim roughly 3,000 babies’ lives each day. This number is alarming and tragic.
"Ultimately, our goal should be to end abortion violence and cherish the children God gave us. We should provide the unborn the opportunity to grow strong, be bold, and become the future of America.”
Rep. Ross, a member of the Pro-Life Caucus and strong advocate of pro-life principles, is a cosponsor of H.R. 36.
