Rep. Dennis A. Ross Votes to Strengthen Low- and Moderate-Income Homebuyer Access to Mortgages
U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, voted in favor of removing barriers to home ownership for low- and moderate- income Americans today by supporting the Mortgage Choice Act. The bipartisan legislation helps consumers access affordable mortgages by making commonsense improvements to the definition of "points and fees" under the Dodd-Frank Act’s Qualified Mortgage Rule.
“During the eight years since passage of Dodd-Frank, its shortcomings have harmed low- and moderate-income Americans greatly,” said Rep. Ross. “Our economy is stronger and more stable than any time in the last 20 years, and by removing this layer of Dodd-Frank’s red tape, fewer members of our society will be stuck waiting on the sidelines.”
